| NORTHWEST REGIONAL CAMPOUT. August 8-10, 2008 |
| | The Northwest Regional Campout will be held this year at the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area in Washington on August 8-10. The campout is hosted this year by the Inland NW RPCVs.
We will be camping at the Gifford
Group Camp an hour north of Davenport, WA on Highway 25 (map). It's right on
the Columbia River, east side. Across the river via free ferry boat is
Inchelium. You can go east on I-90 and then choose an exit to drive
north to Davenport or you can take the other scenic route on Highway 2 to
Davenport.
Buy supplies at Safeway in Davenport and get gas too. Very rural after
that. There's Two Rivers Casino half way to the campsite. It's where
the Spokane River meets the Columbia and a nice spot to stop. On the
south side of the Spokane River is national park stuff--all along the
river is national rec area--like historical sorts of things and a
campground. Cross the bridge north to the casino for rest rooms and
free coffee and another campground. Then further up Hiway 25 you can
stop in Hunters for minor things, small place. Another 20 miles to
Gifford campsite.
